ecobee’s new 2025 Smart HomeKit Thermostat Essential sees very first price drop at $119

Back in January, ecobee upgraded its smart home lineup with a new more affordable Smart Thermostat Essential to replace the aging ecobee 3 Lite, and at a lower price point too. The ecobee 3 Lite carried a $150 list price but the new 2025 Essential model landed at $130 and we are now tracking the very first chance to save on one at Amazon. 

The brand’s top-of-the-line and more premium model is known as the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium – it sells for $250 and rarely ever drops below $220. The Essential model is clearly a far more affordable solution and it has now dropped down to $119.19 shipped – clearly not a massive price drop but it is the lowest we have ever tracked and this one was already the least pricey option the lauded HomeKit-forward brand has offered in years.

It clearly isn’t as premium as the Premium model – it trades out the metal body for a plastic frame and a has a smaller 2.8-inch touchscreen compared to the 4.2-inch display on the Premium. It also doesn’t include the Smartsensor or Air Quality Monitor. All of that said you’re still getting Apple HomeKit and Alexa support alongside the attractive ecobee aesthetics at a glance, the usual suite of smart thermostat control features, and all about half the price too.
